What is an Alumni?

Our alumni are those who have completed any official leadership internship with WFTR and have met the requirements to be successfully accepted through the application process.

Why Become an Alumni?

Becoming an alumni is a way for those who have successfully completed their internships to stay connected to the work of WFTR.

Our alumni receive special privileges that help them to access future initiatives and continue to further their development in the context that they are now living in.

Our alumni stay connected through regular interaction in our online initiatives and annual involvement at our in-person events.

    Current Status: University Student

    “Hi, I’m Sofie.

    I did the Excel Level 3 internship with Water From The Rock (WFTR), and before that I did the Discipleship internship. Altogether I stayed for 18 months at the Rock House, which is WFTR’s residential house. I loved living in the community, and I learned a lot. First about identity and tools that were helpful for everyday life as a young adult and overcoming some mental health challenges. Next I learned about cross-cultural work in the nations, leadership, worship, and much more. I found that WFTR not only helps with life then and there, but they have been steadily supporting life after the internship as well.

    Currently I am studying “Global Development Studies” in Norway, to get a foot into what it’s like to work in the nations. I am also learning a new language.

    Some things I enjoy doing: Going on walks, watching movies, making music and swimming.

    Current Status: Living in Cape Town, SA. Voluntary Worker with The Dignity Campaign.

    "My internship journey started back in June 2022 when I attended Destiny Encounter, a young adults retreat that WFTR run to help people get back on track with God and their destiny. I had just finished a masters in anthropology and international development in London and was trying to work out what God had next for me. It was during this time that I felt God call me to do an ECL3 internship. However, it was not as straight forward as that and after a lot of struggle and tension I finally started my internship in September 2023. The internship challenged me in a lot of ways, there were many moments of frustration but ultimately the Lord used it to realign some things in my life that I had picked up at university and I learnt about global leadership in a way that I had never seen before. It gave me the faith-based training I needed before I could live out my call to the nations. I now work in a cross-cultural setting which supports the poor in a developing nation."
